Closure! We need an ending! Finish what was started!

How amazing that this story was just sort of abandoned. I actually got up at 0530 when my vcr broke so I wouldn't miss an ep! Then, suddenly, it was like a dud grenade... you expected a big finish & got a pphhbbtth. I swear if I ever win the lottery, I'll use my $$ to get the last eps made!

What you do is one thing.
What you're *caught* doing is something else.

reply

You said it! it is so sad to watch such a wonderful animated series end with two episodes of flashbacks...
We Want Roughnecks !!!

reply

I concur that. I'm not living in America, so I wonder why it was not popular enough to earn much money...and make a complete series or even season 2! It surely deserve it!

reply

I never actually got to see the final episode as i live in australia and it got axed. so i was wondering what happend? in the last episode.

reply

WHat I'd kill to see is a live action TV series (in the same vein as Earth: Above and Beyond) picking up where Roughnecks left off. Seriously, if they got some good writers, a strong cast, and a fairly decent budget, that could be an awesome show.

reply

They just weren't able to make last three episodes because of the budget problem.

Check this site to find out the synopsis of last, unmade episodes - Final showdown of a marauder and the bug queen, sounds very cool, isn't it?

reply

As nedlee said, the final two eps should've been a final showdown on earth between the MI and the bugs, but the production ended and they made three flashback episodes (although the third one where Razak was court-martialled was quite interesting).

reply

Just so you know the head of the animation studios who made this said it was actuall still negotiable as to whether the last episodes were made or not but there was no chance of a second season.

reply

Well, atleast finish this series!

I feel cheated now :-(

reply

Yea what a kick to the nuts is it that they actually talked about doing a second series yet never even finished the first. You never know if it sold enough dvds then they would make more episodes, like family guy. That got cancelled then the dvd sales were amazing so they made more episodes.

reply

thats because the idiots at FOX learned to keep a good show for once. so we have to wait for these idiots to wake up. or someone could start fan fiction.

reply

Believe it or not but there actually is a fanfic in the works. Just as a finale to this series. I also think that the episode Homefront should've been made, I read the synopsis on that and thought it had a good story line to it. If I can find the site I'll give you guys the link to the fanfic.

reply

...a fanfic doesn't solve the fact that we don't have an official ending.

If they already had the voices done for it - they should have made the last epps at least if they were going to see the Box set as a "Complete" anything

They knew that they had a market or they would not have even made a box set to sell - i think it is definitly wrong of them to not at least make the last 3 epps and THEN box it up - then it would have at least had a value add over the individual tapes sold originaly

I guess they figured that we would pay for it any way so why waste money

reply

At this point, I'd be happy with any sort of conclusion, even one just in print. When I got the box set for Christmas, I sat my mother down for a Starship Troopers marathon, starting with the movie (not as good as the series, but you gotta start somewhere) and ending with the last episode.

Her immediate response was to bombard me with questions about the finale. When I told her that there wasn't one, she asked me if there was at least some books to consult. This got me thinking...there are novelizations of a lot of different media: video games, comic books, tv shows...couldn't they publish the last 3 eps in a book? Perhaps an audiobook, with the voice actors reading dialogue? Yeah, we'd have to use our imaginations, but I want to know what happened, damnit!

...than of these episodes getting completed. But I read an interesting idea on the Roughnecks board here: http://s7.invisionfree.com/Roughneck_Ramblings/index.php?showtopic=70&hl=

Now, I'd take that happily.

reply

I would give anything to see and have the full series of Starship Troopers. To be honest this is the best CGI animation i'v seen, in top of Beast Wars, Max Steele, and other low quality CGI's

reply

Hey dude!!
There will NEVER be a final episodes or conclusion.
They didn't have enough money.
Plus it's been atleast 6 years since the series ended.
Give it a break hotshot.
Some TV doesn't have a finale, like Beetleborg or VR Troopers.

Get use to it man.

reply

Never!!! I'll pursue this to the grave!!!! I'm determined! And I'm gonna be a doctor, so I'll pay for them if need be!!! : )

The DVD I have ends differently.

I had read what happened on these boards and then in the episode where Zim joins the Roughnecks then ending was Higgins saying "Carl was only half right, the end was near, the final battle-humanity's last stand was just around the corner" while zooming out to space and a huge fleet of transport bugs. Then it ends.

I wanted to see those flashbacks(and the last stand Higgins talked about).

If anybody has any sort of skills in creating online petitions, one could theoretically get a petition on the front page of digg.com and have literally tens of thousands of signatures within hours. It's hard for Sony to ignore thousands of people saying they will buy these final episodes. It's profit, for god's sake.

reply

There is now an online petition to finish the last three episodes! You can sign it over at

http://www.gopetition.com/online/11200.html

You should make sure to leave a comment with your signature, they tend to give a petition more force. Show Sony just how much you want this series finished!

reply

768 signatures as of now. Doesn't look good does it? * Sad face *

I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. RAH.

reply

That's actually the last episode that was produced. Bit of a let down there.

reply

Why? It's pretty hopeless, but if they really hear the fans, it's quite possible it will happen. Think about it. CGI of that quality would be extremely easy to do. They could animate those episodes in like a week.

I would love to see those last few episodes made. Heck, I would even be all for them releasing the audio alone so I could just listen to them, like a radio drama.

The government is force to draft all able people for a one final global attack
The battle last for years resulting with Earth being barren from all the nukes that it takes to kill all the bugs

Our heroes are all dead but not forgotten
