Australian horror films are starting to arise.

cut was the first australian horror slasher film ever made, and has set the way for new ones. 'Undead' was a recent entry, and watch out for the new one 'wolf creek'. Its meant to be pretty good. Also coming out next year is 'voodoo lagoon'.
We don't get to make genre films in australia that much (the basic reason being they don't get backed financially), but I think we're catching on. If 'wolf creek' is as good as everyone is saying it is, there might be a bright future for horror films in Australia.
'Cut' I admit was pretty lame. But It tried something different in the aussie film industry, so I praise them for that. Plus it opened at number 2 in the hong kong and french box office, which is fantastic.

Houseboat Horror = BEST MOVIE EVA!!!!

And Wolf Creek was *beep* so we still haven't had a decent horror movie made here.

Wolf creek was good in that it was a horror a film and it succeeded in scaring me. Unlike cut, not one decent scare or any feeling of terror suspense that wolf creek created for the audience.

'Nightmares' starring a young Gary Sweet and written by John Michael Howson was made back in 1980. Absolute Turkey.

Then there was 'Patrick' in 1978.

I can't see how it could start to arise with movies like "Cut"!!
"Wolf Creek" was great though.
