I remember reading an article about it a while back. Molly Ringwald and Eric Stolz were signed on to star in it and it was going to take place mainly in America where the first film ended. For financial reasons they decided not to make the film, and released Molly, Eric, and whoever else they cast from their contracts.

Molly Ringwald and Eric Stolz?!
Wow, even though their careers at the moment are Blaaah, it would had been a new low. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this film but it was sad to see Molly Ringwald in this.

I wouldnt have minded a sequel. This movie was fun for what it was.

I distinctly remember a promotional poster for "Cut 2"....which believe it or not....had a killer robot on it.

[Never trust anyone that posts on only one IMDB board.]

Yeah, I remember reading some of the pre-publicity material when Cut 2 was in development. Apparently it was going to be set in a hospital where a prototype robot surgeon was being field-tested. The robot would be infected/possessed by the 'Scarman virus' (presumably the spirit of the killer from the first film) and promptly run amok.
