Any Australians here who saw this at the cinema?

How did the film perform at the Australian box-office? What number did it reach? Was there lots of marketing for the film on TV and such? I remember everyone making a big deal about the film and then it fell off my radar before it was released straight to video here in the UK in January 2001. I was very disappointed when I finally saw it.

I saw it in a packed cinema in sydney when I was, maybe, 15/16?
I'm a fan of cheesey horror so me and my friend were really looking forward to it.
It got alot of laughs in the cinema but i have no idea about box office figures... i do know it didn't have a long run, maybe 2 weeks, and it was limited to certain theatres.
hope that helps

ooohh i do remember as well the poster for the film when it was in theatres was really cool and creepy, and the vhs/dvd art sucked balls... they totally ruined it!

From memory this was fairly widely distributed. I don't know why they
bothered, to be honest. When I saw it on TV it was that badly cropped/stretched it was almost unwatchable.

You can rest your mind at last, you've resolved the horrors past...

Don't know if this counts but i'm an aussie in canada i work at a cinema in vancouver and we had a halloween party last night. I got them to screen cut in one of the theatres! i have a copy of the dvd that i bought over here (no idea why an aussie film isn't available in australia?) Anyway all my canadian workmates thought it was awesome and it was great to see it on the big screen, lots of fun!

Last movie seen at cinemas: 'religulous'
Last dvd bought: 'shock treatment'

Cool. That sounds awesome. Thanks for all the posts guys. I was just curious to see how it did elsewhere. The UK cover art was pretty cool. If anyone is interested you should try and find it online.

Hey there, I was 17 when I saw it. I'm not sure how it performed.. but they had a pretty good advertising campaign with severed limbs and body parts! Good teaser advertising containing weird footage that's not in the film.. I can't remember specifics though. There was about 60 people in the cinema. I also own the soundtrack.

Wow i remember CUT!
It had a huge marketing campaign and it looked effective

The critics reviews gave it the big thumbs down and when i did see it at Hoyts on Mardi Gras weekend and found the film really p*ssweak.

The film flopped and it only ran for about 2-3 weeks.

Yeah I remember it in the cinema here in Australia! It was being promoted heaps (the trailer was amazing, it had a good marketing campaign) but the reviews were awful and from memory, it wasn't out here too long.

You can't even get it on DVD here!
