I liked BM better than the transmetals

The original BEAST WARS season 1 is still tops but the transmetals to me were such a contradiction. More power? It really didn't seem like it, and then w/ Transmetals 2 even more power? How many times can Megatron change and still not have enough power to fight off a couple Maximals? Then the whole ending with the Primus book saying "a hero will arise but will not prevail nor surrender" The series ends with them prevailing. OK they were changing (re-writing) history and I do realize this is a cartoon but come on this is the end of the BEAST WARS. They even cut out the scene (later included on the DVDs) that shows Optimus Primal Prime putting the spark back into his ancestor. Like no one would notice that they took Megatron back to Cybertron without putting that back? It was great to bring Dinobutt's clone into the ending episodes but I really think that this 2 part finale pails in comparison to most of the other multi-part episodes. I read some other thread that they had to end the BEAST WARS series a season before planned for some reason? That seems obvious watching this ending. Beast Machines is an awesome show. It doesn't keep the continuity of the series but better writing than most of the transmetal stuff.

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??

And your a jerk. Let the man have his opinions. His are no more valid than yours.

Just because the scene was cut, doesn't mean that they didn't put the original Megatron's spark back where it belonged.

And the covenent of primus was right. Primal DIDN'T prevail. he lost to Megatron, and then Dinobot betrayed him, and Rhinox ran him over with the Ark shuttle. But Primal DIDN'T prevail.

Rhinox and Dinobot did basically.

The power stuff I can sort of account for too. I mean look at how tough Megatron was in the third season. But they didn't want to just make every character tougher and tougher. So they included different ways that it was important. Megatron and Optimus received personality upheavals at first, Cheeter, Rattrap, Tarantulas and Megatron gained new abilities, Cheetor's transformation was a major episode where he became more his own character.

You're an idiot. Just because something's not shown onscreen, doesn't mean it didn't happen. And it's one thing if we're fanwanking and trying to pretend the creators knew what they were doing when they didn't. They wrote the scene! They shot the scene! I've personally seen the scene with my own eyes.

Clearly the creators were aware of it and wrote it with the intention of including it, but it got cut - and that likely wasn't the fault of the showrunners. DiTillio and Forward have said they simply write the show and had no input in terms of the production of it. When they watched it on TV, that would be the first time they got a chance to see how their work was interpreted. So you can't blame them for it.

"You're" is spelled with an apostrophe, captain genius. :)

Transmetals didn't really make them more "powerful" so to speak. It just brought back more of the technological aspect of the characters, and less of the organic aspect.

Originally DiTillio and Forward's plan for season 4 of Beast Wars, had they continued, was to have them explore space. DiTillio always envisioned the Transformers as explorers. But, by the time season 3 came around, they felt that the show was becoming more cartoony as the newer creative heads at Hasbro demanded more control over the stories and didn't want things as dark as they had been the season before. So, they decided to part ways.

One of the projected aspects of season 4 of Beast Wars/Beast Machines was to have Tigerhawk as the main villian. But when things changed, Hasbro asked for the last few episodes (Other Victories specifically) to be re-written to include him into the end of the series.

i still liked BW better than BM. i dislike the fact that they changed everyones personalities and made the show as a whole more darker than Beast Wars. I've always been a TF fan and even a fan of BW but after seeing the follow up, i was a bit disappointed. i mean it was sort of entertaining but it got boring for me b/c theyd always be doing the same thing every episode, running away from or fighting vehicons and the whole organic life on cybertron concept is just lame. it is a new idea but it doesnt work well in the TF universe; especially since theres never been any mention of organic life on the planet. its always been technical.

I agree. Season one of Beast Wars was a great work of art and storytelling, and then they brought in the transmetal stuff and killed the show's momentum. Beast Machines was almost a return to form, but it had some problems of it's own for sure.

Interesting, I actually see it the exact opposite way -- season 1 was, to me, just a bundle of random, casual kids' cartoon stories strung together in a very loose fashion. IMO, only at the end of the season did it get to be really good, and S2 brought about the absolute pinnacle of TF-related, animated storytelling. It marked the point when watching all the previous episodes payed off.

S3 was when they sort of tripped over their own feet, and didn't manage to get up 'till the season finale.
