Shaggys green shirt on poster

I've always found it weird how Shaggy is wearing his traditional green shirt on the poster but a red one in the movie itself.

I can't understand why the cartoonist/designer would do that? Did they think kids wouldn't familiarise with Shaggy wearing a red one or something?

The current design that's on this page and dvd is more a modern design. If you google some of designs most I see have the red shirt.

Sometimes some people like to point out goofs like that on dvd covers and all, but honestly I think the people who work on them probably don't care enough to check stuff like that. I don't think some of which are marketing reasons or gags a the characters.

For example on this Boo brothers dvd. If someone says "they wouldn't recognize Shaggy with a red shirt", then you turn it over and see he's shown in the red shirt on the back...so kinda doesn't make much sense there.

One of the more hilarious goofs that they did fix was on the "Yogi's Great Escape" dvd which originally on the back mentioned "Ranger Tim".
