I think this is the first Puppet Master movie I cant sit through

It painful, its truly painful. The acting is just horrible, and maybe it get explained (have yet to finish it) but why is Toulons origin with the Puppets that was shown in Puppet Master 2 and 3 completely retconned in this?

I kind of like this origin more than that flashback from part 2, which comes off too random and unexciting.
