Dispite it's many 'annoying' moments

I said "annoying" because the writer has created an almost unrealistic world to make the worst possibly go wrong for anyone jumping into a relationship that ends up taking a wrong turn somewhere.

If you can look past this, you will find this movie hilarious.

However, if you can't you will be saying something to the effect of:

"COME ON!"
"PUH LEEZE"
or
"YEAH RIGHT"

through out 60% of it. Unless you are a girl... then you might be saying something quite the opposite.

I thought this movie was freakin' hilarious. I caught it by accident one day half way thru and made it a point to look for it again. French Stewart was excellent! I've always like Bill Belamy (spelling).
I finally got the DVD and I had to let everyone know about the movie. They still haven't caught it yet. It still comes on the movie channels every now and then.
My favorite quote "Back to hell demon, back to hell" I never laughed so hard.

"Why can't I touch it?"

Definitely one of the best, entertaining and imaginative movies I've seen.

I didn't stop laughing and I'm not easily amused.

Well; it ain't gonna suck itself!

I really didn't like this movie.. there were alot of funny parts but i couldn't get past french stewart not EVER opening his eyes all the way...urgh

Mom! We're on high alert here. I almost killed you! Right then! You don't even know!

reply

That's kind of sad..

The entire premise of this show was so amazingly stupid it was hard to watch. A terrible watch.

It was a very hilarious movie it should of made alot more at the box office and should of been considered more of a classic

The comic timing, character development, and acting in this movie is quite good..I believe if someone like Jim Carrey and Jenna Elfman played the leads it might of made alot more money and be more critical acclaimed because we all know how hollywood, critics, and society is with comedys "well it has (a-list comedian) in it so it has to be funny cause we say so"

Even though french stewart was still kinda popular at the time he couldnt pull in the numbers like a jim carey or adam sandler could of, but he was extremely funny in this film

A very underrated film

Most annoying for me was her dressing like elvis and both dancing to the elvis movie. The overall acting throughout the film wasn't that great but that whole scene was ultra stupid.

Despite that I actually liked the movie. I never laughed harder than when she was brushing cat hair on him and he pulled out the inhaler.

reply

Yes the elvis montage was stoopid while this is a bad movie at least it is hilarious. for other films that are this funny see
tomcats
sweetest thing
buying the cow

all crap... but hilarious crap

reply

What else could an elvis montage be?

reply

That wasn't a montage.

I THOUGHT SOMETHING THAT MADE YOU LAF WAS GOOD! HHMMM!

One of the WORST movies ever. Not funny at all. If one is supposed to "get past" the oh puhleeze moments, then there is nothing funny at all.

Sleeping in the same bed?? Seriously?

The shampoo getting rid of his hair? That was reason alone to have her put in jail.

She had NO right to be living in the same house. NONE. Any attorney today would have told her to get lost she had no case. AND THAT is where the movie falls down, You HAVE to be able to suspend your disbelief by thinking, "Well that could happen".

There are NO laws protecting the character's assertions at all. She had no rights and he should have had her arrested. His attorney was so full of crap as to be disbarred. The girlfriend can make all the assertions she wants but no law protected her.

The original major case revolving around socalled "palimony" (the courts used the phrase "pals" living together thus "palimony")Marvin v Marvin, the courts said the girlfriend irrespective of living together was not due anything.

Since Marvin had been over 25 years since the movie was made, the writers should have done and known better.

Horrible horrible movie.

Worse, it wasn't even funny.

Did you guys see the size of that chicken?

reply

I did find this movie very funny...I'm sorry, but French Stewart makes me laugh no matter what he does...I don't know what it is about that guy, but he cracks me up.

reply

This movie was pretty funny despite my trouble accepting French Stewart as a leading man...the last time I watched this, I couldn't help think if the film might have been more effective with the couples switched...with Bellamy and Banks the leading characters and Stewart and Wilson-Sampras as the best friends. Am I the only one who kept picturing the couples switched while watching this?

If you are looking for well acted high brow film making, this is not it. But if you have a craving for goofy over the top comedy with zero political correctness and no redeeming social value, then Love Stinks might just hit the spot.

Personally I would give it 6/10, a dumb and fun pop corn movie.
