Where does this one rank?

I was one of those who loved Godzilla as a kid in the 70's, but lost track of him after Terror of Mechagodzilla in '75. Therefore, I grew up in the '80's and 90's not even knowing that the Heisei series had revived him, and the Millenium series was picking up where Heisei left off. This weekend, I had the pleasure of watching two of those films; this one, and GMK. I found GMK highly enjoyable (and I'll post on that later), but this one wasn't as good, IMHO. How do the rest of you G-fans feel about this movie? I liked the new design,in some ways because it made him look fearsome, but the shorter neck wasn't as cool to me. Plus, his atomic ray was red. Isn't it supposed to be blue? OMG, I sound like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. LOL Anyway, what do you think? Does G2K rank high for any of you out there?

IMHO: Does it mean: in my humble or honest opinion?

i liked the movie myself but i think is the worst of the millenium series not the worst godzilla movie but kinda close........

I found this film quite enjoyable, it dragged a bit in the middle but was exciting most of the time, and the effects were great.

in my equally humble opinion, I can't understand how a G-fan could think this is a bad Godzilla movie. It's quite possibly one of the best that was ever made...the cast is sober, the story is well-paced, and although the action fades in the middle, the film make up for it with the most terrifically-filmed battled sequence I've ever scene (have you ever seen that many good angles in a fast-paced daikaiju fight?). It remains exciting without ever tresspassing into the realm of ridiculous, which simply doesn't work for Godzilla movies anymore, as GMK and Godzilla vs. MegaGuiras have proven with gusto. Those of you who didn't like Godzilla 2K should watch the edited American DVD release, especially with the audio commentary.

I like anything with Godzilla in it, but IMHO this isn't among the best; Godzilla just doesn't have enough screen time.
The effects were admittedly an improvement, but still looked pretty dull; they were almost all in shades of brown and grey.
Nice battle at the end, but Orga was pretty boring.

This one is in the top 10 Godzilla Movies IMHO. Still have a soft spot for Godzilla Vs the Sea Monster but thats because I use to run home just to watch it on WXYZ Godzilla week when i was a Kid.

Maybe because... Godzilla is inside each one of us!

This movie is one of the worst movies i have ever seen.

You need to watch more movies.

The bottom rung. I know I'll get bashed for this, but just in my opinion, this is the worst off Godzilla movie in all 28 films of the trilogy.

The pacing was bad

The characters are underdeveloped

the effects range from adequate to horrible

The fight between Godzilla and Orga was slow

Yes actually, that's the version I'm referring to. It is better than the English version but that's not saying much since it was a mediocre film to begin with.

"Well Godzilla 2000 is better then better then some of the showas, also at least two of the Heisei films."

Well that's not really saying much since it's not that hard to be better than Showas such as G's Revenge, Gigan and Megalon. It is better than those, but it's still a mediocre film. And I assume one of the Heiseis you're talking about is Space Godzilla. I'd actually put Space Godzilla on the same tier quality wise as 2000 with Space Godzilla slightly beating it out only because it doesn't have as many of the problems 2000 had, plus it had a better final battle.

Godzilla 2000 is a lacklustre Godzilla film in my opinion, but it's better than its sequel, Godzilla vs Megaguirus.

Im suprised at all the hate this one gets. It way better than anything in the second series accept Destroyah and Biolante. IMO, the Millenium series is all ace. They have great effects, they are faster paced and have better written characters. Godzilla 2000 is awesome. Many of the Godzilla films have long, boring exposition with icredibly stock characters. The characters in G2000 arent anything special, but they are better and more likable than many of the other characters in the series.

8/10

I think it's pretty good. It's solid all-around, but not spectacular. Maybe I also like it so much because it's one of the only movies I currently have haha.

I also LOVE the Godzilla suit design, it's my favorite one.
