Why are the dolls so named?

There's an episode on Youtube in which Dotty explains why all the dolls are rejects and I just want to ask some questions of what they are named after:

Hi-Fi - wired up wrong hence his stammers. Is he called Hi-Fi because of his headphones?
Back-To-Front - no question, his head is on Back-To-Front hence his name
Dotty - got splashes of paint on her. Is she called Dotty because the paint is like dots or did the producers think of a word that rhymes with bossy as that's what Dotty is sometimes?
Lucy - arms and legs aren't fixed properly. Is she called Lucy because she's "Loosey" and not after the feminine name?
Sad Sack - only 1 of him and uses too much stuffing which is too expensive. He is a sack, but is he called Sad Sack because he's very sad which he is sometimes?
Claude - no question, he fell out of a sack whilst being shipped to France and it is a French name
Princess - dressed in odds and ends when there was no material left for her. There's an episode in which she says she doesn't know why she's called Princess as she doesn't look royal at all. Why is she named Princess?

I don't really know what they are named after, but I like them a lot :)

The Raggy Dolls (Trasdockornas) name in Swedish:

Hi-Fi = Luren (it's like "headset" or something)
Back-To-Front = Bak-o-fram (the same)
Dotty = Kluddis (I think this refers to "likes to paint")
Lucy = Skrajsan (cute name for "a little bit afraid", when arms and legs shake)
Sadsack = PĂ„sen (just "the sack", not sad)
Claude = Claude
Princess = Prinsessan (the same)

I remember the episode when Princess joined the raggy dolls!
They found her and she told them why she was rejected and I think the raggy dolls came up with the name "princess" then because they thought she was like a princess even though she was not like she were supposed to be.

Princess got her name because she was supposed to become a princess doll.

And I thought Dotty was called "Duttan" in Swedish?

Yes, it's true! IMDB has reached Sweden!

reply

Yes, that's Dotty's Swedish name.

Anyone know what they're called in other countries?
