If Gwen knew he was guilty, why did she make sound as if she knew he was innocent when she was talking to the cops?

I wondered the very same thing. She went on for what seemed like hours trying to convince the police that they had absolutely no evidence proving his guilt. She seemed to be toying with the police. In the end they asked her why she had not revealed her belief of his guilt when she first arrived at the police station. She replied "I was scared." What was she scared of? That made no sense except that maybe she feared for her own life but she had to know they would arrest him and therefore he wouldn't be able to get to her. The only other reason I could come up with was that since she was so angry at them for the way they had handled the case, and the fact that she blamed them for her own husband's death, she wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine. Other than that I couldn't understand why she did this either.
