She's the worst cop ever

Detective Palmer needs some serious classes in preservation of a crime scene. Aside from that first crime scene, where she's using gloves and treading carefully, every time Ms. Palmer is in a crime scene, she's running rough-shod over it all. When she combed through Vickie's purse...no gloves, smearing any possible fingerprints. She didn't talk to her team about her hunches and suspicions because she was hurt at their disregard. Seriously, with those chips on her shoulders and blatant disregard for the fingerprints she left everywhere, the potential evidence she lifted and left in a different position, how did she make detective? It really ate into my suspension of disbelief.

Being that it was set in the USA, I'm going to go with the nasty bit of Marxism known as... Affirmative Action/EEOC.
