Finally an official dvd release!

This is now available on dvd...only thing is that it's exclusive to the "Disney movie club".

Wow...what took so long?

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Although it is great to finally have this movie on DVD, I must confess that I was a little disappointed. Not with the movie; the movie is great. However, the movie is not presented in widescreen, it is full-screen. At first, I thought maybe that was how the picture had been made, but I still have my VHS copy, which opens with the now-seldom-seen disclaimer that "the movie has been modified to fit your screen," which means the sides are still chopped off. Apart from that, I was REALLY hoping that the DVD would have maybe on or two of the Disney episodes as bonus features, since none of them are available on DVD yet and very few on tape. Even the 'DOUGumentary' which was played at the end of the VHS version is not present. In addition, the credits are sped-up so that we only hear the first two-thirds of the credits song "Someone Like Me," which is a truly spectacular piece of music.

In other words, if you own the VHS tape and have no real itching desire to own a DVD copy, or if you have a VHS-to-DVD software, there's no real need to grab the DVD, as it's the same aspect-ratio as the tape version, same quality, and no bonus features. Nevertheless, it is relieving that Disney finally put this movie out on DVD.
