If you are still pining for a good North American version of Spaced then I don't think you could do any better than Edgar Wright's 2010 movie Scott Pilgrim VS The World.

The magical reality and the visual energy of that movie is very similar to the show but on logically more sophisticated level. In fact I think it's more in common with the show than any of the cornetto films.

Also, some of the writing is familiar to Spaced the way that money-shot lines are woven into the narrative the same way money-shot visuals are integrated into normal coverage.

I tried to watch that. Heard so much hype about it. I couldn't stand it. Maybe it's my age, but it was terrible. Just my opinion of course, but I don't see any similarities between it and Spaced at all.
