I've just bought the DVD!

I've searched everywhere on the net and the ONLY place I could get it is through Australia's ABC.
It's not too expensive, here's the link to the DVDs of the series:

Enjoy, don't let this funny series get forgotten :-)

Yes, I can't be forgotten! In fact, it should be resurrected! Why is it that the best Britcoms are so darn short? Blackbooks...'The Young Ones'...why? WHY?

Well, I guess it's better than what they do in America: 2 good seasons and 7 crappy ones.

I got it on ebay (I'm in the US). Apparently, Aussies are just swimming in copies of this thing.

I wonder if PBS starts to push it...maybe they'll do some sort of Christmas special or something. We all know how much the PBS crowd loves its Britcoms.

reply

Yeh, i'm aussie and i just bought a copy for 13 bucks Australian. which in American would be less than 10 dollars

But isn't the Aussie version Region 4? Or is it multi-region / region 2 compatible?

"it could alwasy be converted using DVDShrink (on your PC) then burned as region free to play on your TV. ;-) "

Are you sure? A few years ago I thought DVDShrink asked, during the copy process, "This is in PAL format, do you want to convert to NTSC?" before burning. I converted 3 DVDs that way, with DVDShrink alone... I think.

New computer, newest copy of DVDShrink: I recently bought another Region 2 DVD and DVDShrink left it as PAL so my DVD player rejected it (since NTSC is used in the USA) no matter what the region setting was. It was a great pain in the buttocks to find an affordable program to convert PAL to NTSC and that program is horrible and takes forever.

I'd love it if you told me what I was doing wrong with DVDShrink so I could revert to using it by itself!

P.S. A couple of weeks ago I checked amazon.co.uk and Let Them Eat Cake was available but it was "out of stock" at amazon.com here in the USofA. I almost bought it but until I get this PAL - NTSC bit figured out converting Region 2 is too much of a pain.

Probably far too late for this reply to be of use, but the Aussie DVD release is dual-coded for Regions 4 and 2.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

I got the DVD for Christmas... Not as hysterical as I remember it being when it was on the tele. But, it's very funny in a pleasantly silly way and I enjoyed watching it again very much.
