Why the hell wasn't this given a second series?

I could of sworn at the time there were plans for one. It was really good, really funny, really well acted, why oh why didn't they follow it up!?

I remember this too - I'm sure in 2001 there was a segment on the BBC on the 'Coming later in the autumn...' bit.

Anyway, probably not popular enough, but also possibly because in 2000 Spaced had taken off and Pegg was busy with series 2 of that. Shame that was never a series 3 either.

P.S. If you love this, then you'll probably love 'World of Pub' - just out on DVD now and features some of the usual greats.

I read somewhere that it was given a second series but either Mathews or Linehan (whichever one wrote the episodes) was put off by all of the negative press and decided not to continue it.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but had they already filmed it, but decided to go no further with it?

I would love another series, seriously.

I didn't watch it at the time, but I seem to remember there was a lot of hype around the series, and a general feeling that it didn't live up to it. This sealed the fate of a lot of British comedy series in the late 90s (Chalk being a prominent example).

I saw it for the first time this week and really enjoyed it. Loved the atmosphere and Boyd's character's "review" and "obituary" were hysterical.

You've both made such a little go a very long way

sorry---just watched 3 episodes of this series and it is by far one of the worst series I have ever seen---it had a good line up--but lacked delievery

Personally, I enjoyed it and would have liked to have seen season 2. Some episodes are weaker than others but I can't agree with those who think it was the worst series ever. I remember 'Bottle Boys' with Robin Askwith and 'Home James!' with Jim Davidson which were unwatchable.

...now I do it just to watch their f----n' expression change.
