When this is going to get (much) better ?

I have read comments before, and i was aware that the quality of season 1 is not great, but what i have so far has been bad, not even average.
I am watching episode 5 of season 1 (PK Tech Girl) and it's seriously almost painful to watch.
Even assuming this is the worst episode of the whole series, i haven't been really impressed with the previous ones either.
When this show actually improves and gets better as many people say ?
I don't really know if i can stomach another 4-5 episodes like this one.
Quite shocking that Firefly didn't last a season, while this one did.

"They've Got a Secret" is a good episode. "Till the Blood Runs Clear" is an important episode. "Durka Returns" is the first really good episode and they get better and better after that. "Through the Looking Glass" is one of my favorite sci-fi episodes of all time. "Nerve" and "The Hidden Memory" are amazing.

Half the threads on the Farscape board are by new viewers wondering when the show is going to pick up the slack. One word for you: Scorpius.

First can be rough for some (it was not for me) in their initial watch. It is a necessary introduction stage to set and build up coming seasons though so it is a must watch.

And any Firefly fans. Farscape and Firefly have many similar aspects in story concept and characters true. But they are not same. Firefly is more like a western in sci-fi format. Farscape is fantasy space opera with character story arcs.

For me so far...I'm at the end of 'The Hidden Memory', the first above average episode for me was 'A human Reaction', which was ep16. Before that it was pretty meh to bad for most of those episodes. I think as it goes on they get rid of more of the silliness that was there in the beginning. A lot of it felt too tryhard with so many pop culture references and trying to hit some sort of action one liner mode too often. This made it extra cheesy. This slows down int he last 1/3 of the season it feels like for me. Around that episode 16 it felt like the show started to have a bit better writing and story arcs and the quality overall in most aspects increased.

Take my AIDS, please!

A better word would be pissoffandstopwatching. These "when does it get better?" threads pop up on every single show that has a loyal following, it's like subconscious trolling or something.

If someone doesn't like a show, they should stop watching it, they don't need to try and be hip by stating that what others find great is simply bland to the super-cultured new kids on the block like themselves.

About 20 years ago when the internet went mainstream... and it's been snowballing downhill ever since.

With respect - this is a discussion board - not a fansite. It's a means of connecting with others who may have watched a series, to seek or share viewpoints (positive or negative) or simply to ask questions. Not liking something someone else does is fine (although of course there's no need to be mean about it) - and personally I think people taking offence because someone didn't like something they did is a little naive.

Most responses have been very helpful to the questioner's perfectly legitimate question. I was the same with Farscape - it was a quaint, but not entirely absorbing, early evening viewing here in the UK....and then it really started to get into it's stride - so I can completely understand why someone might be watching it retrospectively and thinking 'why do so many people think this is great?'.

I've asked a similar question in response to a series I came late to too. If you're a few series behind - what is wrong or weird about trying to get a sense of other people's reactions - particularly given that many series are 'late bloomers'?

Personally I find it weird that some people think its offensive to not like a particular TV series or movie - but perfectly ok to be mean or nasty to real people in the real world (a statement which is probably red rag to a bull on a discussion board.

Since before there was an internet. The easiest criticism is negative criticism.

I did not say this. I am not here.

I actually lol'd at that.
If someone doesn't understand other people, there's no point in trying, like you do with this failed attempt:
they don't need to try and be hip by stating that what others find great is simply bland to the super-cultured new kids on the block like themselves.

So please, dont try to think. And please, shutuporberespectful.

I wouldn't say its trolling.
TV shows go on for a long time and some are initially bad or bad in the middle etc so these people are trying to check, mostly for critically acclaimed tv series or ones with cult followings, if it is worth watching for more episodes.
You won't see these threads on movies or tv shows known to be really bad.

I almost gave up around there to, but around 10 I was hooked.

I didn't rate 'Farscape' to begin with, I also hated 'Buffy' (TV series, the film has always been just...dreadful) and 'Blade Runner.'

After much hassling and repeated viewings, I finally saw the light- I love all of them now! I know that if something doesn't 'grab' you and you're told to keep trying, you think 'well if it's that good, I shouldn't have to make the effort' but it really is worthwhile.

"PK Tech Girl" is still one of my favorite episodes. Get lost if you don't like the series. You are not missed here.

No need to be nasty. Like schooly85 above says, this is not a fan site, people are entitled to ask legitimate questions.
