the plot

Most people don't realize that in fact the movie has a plot. It is a cold war thriller. Unseen by the audience, a group if ruthless spies wait off camera for the hero to wake so they can beat information out of him. The hero, who is actually awake, knows they are there and must fake sleep until dawn, when his partner from the agency is supposed to meet him. It is in fact a Hitchcockian exercise in suspense. Its ambiguous ending (has he actually succeeded?) always leaves me breathless.
