I give this film credit for an imaginative story (no spoilers)

My biggest pet peeve in Hollywood is when they combine a hundred-million-dollar marketing campaign, a hundred-million-dollar special effects budget and a two-hundred-million-dollar cast budget with a script that felt like it was written over a burger and fries at McDonald's. Hollywood knows that if they market a movie with famous actors and great special effects the movie will make money no matter how bad it is.

OK I'm off my soapbox.

I felt like the writers of this script actually spent time and effort making sure they came up with a detailed, imaginative, thorough and entertaining story. I don't want to name examples because I don't want to give anything away for anyone who hasn't seen it, but there is plenty of character development, plot development, and totally unexpected twists. The ending was MAYBE a bit disappointing, but certainly unexpected and imaginative. Probably could have been handled a bit better but I won't complain.

ANY fan of teen flicks should rent or watch this movie - it's great, I would even dare say it's superior to the more highly-marketed Mean Girls, John Tucker Must Die, She's All That, or any other teen-cheerleader-revenge movie out there.

Thoughts?

Actually, this is a horrible copy of "All about Eve" which has been around since the 1930s.

Imaginative? You must be about 12? (If you are then you don't know anything different yet so I apologize) But c'com as annaihk says above this is a rip-off! From one of the earliest films. Not only that, this is a terrible insulting rip-off, and everything about it is pathetic. Try watching some of the Top 250 here on IMDB to see what good films really are, because this is the definition of what isn't.

It's a fun film and I enjoyed it immensely. I agree with you that it's superior to Mean Girls, She's All That and John Tucker Must Die.

Jane McGregor, Piper Perabo and the cast of this movie are far superior to the cast of the other movies you mentioned.

I love the movie
I bought it beacuse Piper is in the film
But it is not an orginal story, it is simply an updated version of "All About Eve"

I was thinking about a sit com, "Married With Children" back in 1987:
Christina Applegate and Millia Jovovich had the same story in a 30 minute episode

Yeah, the main reason I saw this movie was because of Piper Perabo. When me and my family saw this movie, my dad agreed that Jane McGregor (Starla) was the wrong person for the popular role and Piper should have played it. But I don't know. It's one of those movies about high school that requires no imagination at all. Which is what makes it so amusing, and comical. It was the first movie I laughed to in a long time!

"Have a nice day?"
"Yeah, I panicked; I didn't know what else to say!"

"Love just IS."

I liked this movie as well. I liked that the movie seemed to be making fun of itself which made the silliness of it more enjoyable.

It's not a great movie, and it's not trying to be which is why I liked it.

i agree with joe2002. i liked this movie. i'm in my 40s and i still liked it, so it's not just for teenage girls. i thought it was cute and different and kept me interested the whole time.

It's a well-made movie, if you're not a snob for whom the supposed top 250 (including _actual_ pandering junk such as Forrest Gump) are what it's all about.

For those who liked John Tucker Must Die (and liked this even better), I'd also recommend Table For Three, in which Sophia Bush was far funnier than she was in John Tucker Must Die, and Jesse Bradford from Bring It On was also very good.
