Clive Owen

Love this man . . . such a talent! "Second Sight" is one of my all time favorites and would love to own it. Two questions: (1) Is it available on DVD? and (2) did Clive not have a double last name when he started out in his career?

The series is available on DVD. I bought both seasons (series 1 and 2) at Border's for $50. It was well worth it.

If you like Second Sight, you have to see Chancer. It's another BBC series starring Clive Owen, but in this series he's on the other side of the law -- sort of. He's a con man and a swindler who winds up working for a sports car company. It's a great series.

I don't think you can buy Chancer in a format that will play on US DVD players (I have the PAL versions), but all regions of DVDs play on US computers, and computers connect to HD TVs, so I don't worry about regions when I want to watch a movie or TV series that is not yet available in Region 1 format. In fact, I really like British television, and if the shows I want to watch are not available in the US, I either play the episodes from youtube on my computer and watch them on my HD TV or I buy the UK version of the DVDs and play them on my computer.

BTW, I really despise the concept of "regional formatting" for DVDs. Nobody formats music CDs by region, so why should DVDs be formatted by region? We are a global community, and we should all have equal access to media and information regardless of where we live. Limiting access to products based purely on geographical location holds consumers hostage and forces them to buy specific products from specific manufacturers. Don't we call those kinds of arrangements "monopolies"?

Anyway, find a way to watch both Second Sight and Chancer. You won't regret it. Both shows are top-notch British crime-dramas in the vein of Prime Suspect, and -- despite their age -- they feel totally relevant today.
