Time to break out torment again...

I was going to originally play the game anyway since it's been over 6 years and as such it seems rather hazy now (This is the sort of game you want to forget so you can play again imo), but I was looking for patches & such and found this:

Even though the focus of this game is story, it should be more enjoyable this time around, no? :P.

Definitely - I've just loaded it up again (it's probably six years since I played it too). I've been exploring all my old RPGs - Baldur's Gate trilogy, both Icewind Dales and both Fallouts. Black Isle really could do no wrong.
Planescape is definitely one of the best games of all time, and different even than its contemporaries. I'm just sad they don't make games like this any more - it's all about graphics now and I miss the party banter you get in older games.

I remember having the most vivid imagination when I played games like "Ultima III," and "Telengard." The story lines and mysteries really made the games great even though they both lacked super-dooper SVGA accelerated graphics. Ultima III barely had graphics as it was. But for some reason that didn't matter. The story was good enough.
