So a British bad egg kills Martin's son, and then Martin goes after ALL British, including the good eggs?

I don't get this sudden hatred Mel Gibson's character has towards ALL British, even though it was a single bad egg that killed his second-born and was going to kill his first-born, too. At the start of that scene, there is even a good egg Brit who thanks Martin for taking care of their wounded as well as the Rebel wounded, so Martin is happy to assist them at first.

What irks me is that after the bad egg kills his second son, he goes on a rampage to kill all of the British, including the good egg (who his son kills) when they personally haven't done anything to him... yet he doesn't go after the bad egg!

Strange plotting indeed, it just seemed like the perfect vehicle for Gibson to vent his anger on the English (since he thinks all Brits are English) who he hates, for no good reason.

always wondered what Gibsons problem is regarding us Brits.
Can't wait for his next movie about how the villainous Brits stopped that good egg Adolf Hitler from (ahem) liberating the whole of Europe.

Gibson's always been a strange one. And it's not just the Brits, it's his anti-semitism, too.

reply

Hence his forthcoming good egg Hitler movie....maybe.

reply

Wow, sooooooo judgmental. Maybe he doesn't like eggs. Ever think of that?

reply

I'm describing people, not eggs. Tavington is the bad egg, and that other guy is the good egg.

reply

Eggs are people too, you know. Stop being soooooo biased.

reply

Sorry, I didn't know the good Brit's name.

reply

I've been joking around with you.

reply

You were just egging him on.

Caring for the wounded after a battle if possible is what people do in a civilized world, but it doesn't change the fact that the British were still the enemy. At this point in history, the United States had declared its Independence, so the British were an invading force in their minds who had to be dealt with accordingly.

reply

Martin was in revenge filled rage. Had to kill everyone because they stood by and let it happen. It was also implied, in the film, that the British at this time were killing civilians so his family wasn't the first.

reply

He's just being thorough.
