There is an opening murder - sort of. It's later revealed that it's not quite as it seems. But the opening scene is a good recreation of the classic urban legend about 'the Hook.'
The opening scene takes place in Lover's Lane, as the title suggests. Basically, it's the quiet place just outside of town where courting couples park their cars and - ahem - get better acquainted.

The opening scene gives the impression that a young couple have been attacked and murdered in their car, while in Lover's Lane.
HOWEVER, it's later revealed that they were actually killed earlier, at a different location. The murderer packed the bodies into the car, drove it to Lover's Lane, then placed the bodies so it appeared that was where they'd been attacked. He did this in order to frame someone else.
