how much time had gone by?

possible spoiler

I know this is over-analyzing, but can anyone make a guess as to how long Imogen and Al were apart before they got back together? I'm guessing it was over two years, since Imogen was a sophmore when they broke up, and she finished school. Plus she already had a career, and commented on the book covers (plural) that she did, meaning she hadn't just started.

It seems like they both would have met someone else if all that time had elapsed...but at the same time, from Al's point of view, it seemed like they JUST broke up.

I know it's just a movie, but if anyone has thoughts I'd love to hear them.

Probably a few years. I'd guess three. The thing about first love is that it seems to never completely go away. Even when you've had other long-term relationships since that breakup, even when you think you're completely over that love, and even when you're complacently triumphing over all life's challenges, feeling 100% happy and 0% regretful, a particular day comes along bearing a certain moment that includes an unexpected thought about your ex, yielding you a startling realization followed by an internal *beep* After that, you either call them or you force yourself to stop thinking about it.

I think three hits on the nose. I just watched this one today and it was made clear that Freddi did try to date, but no matter what date it was, it never truly matched the one he had. I have never been in that type of love, but I have to admit that in real life, no one would be single for long. I think Imagon might the one to find other loves, if one of them had too. Despite the cheating, she did seem to be the one who is better ailed (right word) with reality. In a way, she is "Down to Earth" and he is..floating. And one question? WHO is Monk? How the hell did he meet Al?

reply

Monk was his roommate in college. I would guess dorm roommates, and then apartment mates.
