Tommy Lee Jones was WRONG

Look he was ok in this, and I guess he won the part cause he looked old even though he was still rather young.. Stallone and Schwarzenegger is older then Jones so how on Earth choose Jones for this part.. It was obvious he was playing the same age group as the older guys.

Anyway the best choices for Hawkins was (NO NOT MORGAN FREEMNAN AS MANY OF YOU WILL THINK) Charles Bronson as he was the other alpha male at the time Clint was also top of the game in the 70's. Or Burt Reynolds and Gene Hackman.

Any of them guys from that generation Clint is from. Tommy was about in the 70's but wasn't anyone special.

Apart from that, Great film and Tommy would of been happy

WRONG about what? Playing his character as well as anybody else could - if not better?

He certainly looked the older-but-still-tough-as-nails part as did Clint. James G. & Donald S. sure looked their years (if not more!) though.

Well, the next time you direct/ produce a Hollywood movie, don't be surprised if viewers dislike the actors in your film esp. when those whom you preferred were unable due to various reasons....

Don't judge a man until you've "walked a mile in his shoes."

P.S. The only person in the family of my best friend from high school onward (who actually designed hand tools in Texas used on the shuttles) whom I've never met: his sister who died aboard the Columbia space shuttle....

It's ALL about perspective & what really matters.

I agree with you, they have fake footage from 1958 of airplane scrimmages, with the TLJ character — though he would have been in grade school at the time. Count it up to Clint Eastwood's ego.
