Space walk and dirty shoes?

I'm watching Space Cowboys now on AMC.
AMC has a nasty habit of interrupting a good movie every five to seven minutes for commercials. But that is not the point of my post.

When Eastwood's character (Frank Corvin) discovers during a space walk, that the satelitte is actually a nuclear launch platform, the sole of his shoes are shown, scuffed up and have obviously been walked in on a hard surface.
Space suits should be sterile in a sterile environment?

As others have pointed out, this is not to disgrace the overall great film.
It's one of those "small details" overlooked during production.

I'd classify that with scenes where the actor's head is tilted back and mouth open to reveal dental fillings in a movie taking place before such dental work was performed or with an alien who has no need for such things. (Peter Davison's Doctor Who in the 80's.)

It's just a mistake. Oops. Although had anyone thought ahead they could have put plastic bags on the feet between shots to protect them from dirt when the actor or stand-in was walking around the set, or used CGI or other techniques to "bleach" them on film.

Or real space suit boots might be dirty for the same reason...walking around on Earth during training. NASA can't afford brand new boots for every flight.
