Jarhead

This game was referred to in jarhead. It was obvious the script writer had no idea what he was talking about. Discuss.

no.

Are you saying that because something wonderful does in fact happen when you beat the game numerous times? Because they really didn't say too much about it.

perhaps actually understand what the hell was just said instead of saying "omg the writer is a friggin idiot!"

it can be MORE obvious that the CHARACTER who said the line which specifically mentioned getting to the ninth level did not understand fully what he meant when he said that. most likely grown up by the time metroid hit, and not in a time where video games were big amongst the older kids, he knew of it, heard of it, but didnt know what it was.

and it has nothing to do with the game specifically. it was a metaphor, with the follow up of the line saying that nothing happens, you just start over. it was an insight into the war, how things became repetative and history was just repeating itself. not only that, after nothing happened in the entire war e.g. never getting to fire the rifle, he was hyped up for a war that basically led him to that "ninth level" then....nothing, he started back where he was.

and havent you ever made a reference to something that obviously didnt go together? the point is making the point, not needing to be historically accurate.
