Unless you saw it in a theater when it came out, it's impact is completely lost

Now it's just another boring found footage film that can't stand on it's own at all.

Also the whole viral website and stuff that went along with it. So many people in myself straight up thought this was going to be so real. Until shortly before I came out they revealed that it wasn't real. But there are still many people who think it is real

Really was genuis marketing for the time.

And how do you know that guy tossing the corn was not a studio plant? You’ve acknowledged that they did a very well-integrated campaign of outright lies to misinform the gullible public.

This film was aimed at stupid people, of whom our species obviously has a plethora.

I saw it before it blew up into mega status. It was a midnight showing and the atmosphere was just right and it was incredible.

But, I still find it outstanding even to this day. I put it on the other night and played it through speakers that would capture the sound of broken branches in the woods, and it's still great.

Never as good after the first time, that's to be expected, but it's still enjoyable after all these years.

Part of the gig was that it was marketed as a true story so you can never replicate that due to its popularity.

I saw it quite a few years after its release.

Frankly, as a fan of horror films, and of found footage films, I still consider this to be one of the absolute best in its class.

It's a well made play and relies heavily on SOUND.
It is appreciated the most either with headphones or a theater with a good sound system.

Agreed. This movie’s ultimate impact was opening weekend. It’s a very mundane, boring movie that was propelled by an admittedly amazing marketing push.

I saw this on opening weekend, and felt that the last 5-10 minutes were effective, but I also thought to myself “I’ve seen this before” - Cannibal Holocaust if you switched the cannibals with an unseen witch/ghost.

In the end, I actually love how they marketed the movie way much more than the actual movie.

I don't find it boring. I rewatch it every year around Halloween and I always enjoy it.

First time I saw it was in 2011 when a friend recommended it to me. I checked it out, loved it right away, and my opinion of it has never diminished.
