I don't know about that. I just think no one gave it a good chance. It was syndicated and I believe syndicated shows have a harder time being accepted for a couple of factors.

The first factor is a well known IP. In 1992 (which was the first and only time I saw the show on TV) I rarely read comics but I'd heard of a few comic book characters that had never had a successful series run before. 'Bucky O'Hare' wasn't one of them though. I didn't even know it was a comic book before 2015, 23 years after I saw it.

A second factor could be timeslot. Bad timing is likely the reason 'Firefly' was canceled and never became the Joss Whedon hit it should have been. In the case of 'Bucky O'Hare' I'd say inconsistent timeslots were a factor. I watched it on a FOX affiliate and they ran it at either 6 or 6:30am Central time. It was a kids TV show and they were airing it when most kids were still in bed. I mean how dumb can you get? I read on these forums that someone saw it on FOX Kids (block). I followed the FOX Kids programming on my affiliate and they never aired it during either the Saturday morning or afternoon blocks of the early 90's.

The last factor ties in to the other two. BOH didn't have a well known source. This wasn't made by Disney, Warner Bros., DIC, Turner Broadcasting or Hanna Barbera. I just started looking into BOH this very month and I can honestly say I'd never heard of Continuity Comics or Continuity Studios until now. I'm guessing that fewer stations were willing to take a chance on this obscure IP, and of those that did not all put it in the best timeslots for it to gain an adequate fanbase.

Violence could have played a factor but I'm guessing it was a victim of both the times and the networks moreso than its violent content. It's also possible that its greatest enemy may have been its own origin and lack of exposure in the world. It had just enough history, and charm, to get 13 episodes but it wasn't known well enough to get the chance it deserved.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Michael Bay will have a go at it one day. It seems right up his alley. Michael BAAAYY!!!! EX-PLOSIONS!!!!!
