Im going on a buying spree and just got SFII the movie and SFIIV-The collection (has the whole series).. but ive read/heard that this isnt too good, and the whole made up characters thing isnt too cool to me. Im leaning towards skippin it and getting generations cuz that has the important fight. Will I be missing anything?
I love it, I wouldn't pay 20 for it, I got mine used for about 8 or 12 I think, but, I'd get it if it were cheap just for a collection. The story is simple enough, and all you really need to know is that Ryu is a fight with his dark side. The other plot is secondary.
Although this is being marketed as a "sequel" to the original Alpha/Zero anime, the two stories have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Generations is pretty disappointing as well - only 4 characters from the actual game roster(discounting Gouken and Goutetsu). Feel free to skip this one, since the only thing it actually has over Generations is a larger complement of SF characters and better art design.
Just don't get your hopes up for SFA:G.....Ken does absolutely nothing, Sakura gets a free ass-kicking and the Ryu/Gouki fight is brief. The studio chose to focus on the character of Ryu and Gouki and their backgrounds....and on that level, at least, it has some success.
xxxSPOILERxxx
For those that have viewed Generations, what the heck was the monk's dialogue at the end supposed to mean? That Ryu is Gouki's son?.....it was too vague but that seemed to be the implication. I know the anime isn't canon but it would be interesting if they were actually implying that.
Your absolutely right. Generations was just awful. I found Alpha to be a much better experience. It also is much longer than Generations' running time of only 45 min. I hope they make a sequel to Generations with more characters and a better script.
Me being a fan of the sf's for a very long time especially the alpha's (video games), i say to you "SKIP THIS MOVIE." I just bought this movie because i saw at my work we're selling "generations" so i said "hmm, lemme check out zero first then generations".....my biggest mistake, one of the worst anime's i have ever seen. it made me sick to my stomach how this anime was. the art itself was worst then a basic television kid show. they show most of the characters on the plane for the "big fight" but only ken, chun-li and birdie end up getting their arses kicked, then ryu turning "evil" to finish off the last guy that was sucking up their strength???????? if generations is anything like this movie there's no doubt in my mind i wouldn't even bother to look at it in any way. it's one big slopped together cheesy movie. breaks my heart! street fighter II so far is still my favorite of the other movies.
trust me you're not learning anything in sfa zero.
::SPOILER::
ryu and ken meet up, along comes ryu's little brat kid brother out of no where. they go to the "fight" ryu turns evil for a little bit, a buncha worthless time wasting "evil turning" scenes come up for a min, he destroys a building, they go after the dark chi.........end scene, ken's uppercut doesn't affect one of the main guy's...oh but ryu's EVIL fireball blows the guy to shreds. ZzZZzzZzz FAREWELL!
Ryu wasn't evil at then, I think that was pretty much his shinhadouken, but he didn't become evil ryu. Alpha is really good I think, there isn't a thing technically wrong with it, though it should've been longer.
I think they need to take it easy with all this mystic bulls*ht. We've got phucking ghosts popping outta nowhere in Generations. And every SF movie that comes out seems more focused on Ryu than the last one. And all he does is talk about training and makes ugly faces when someone gets him angry. My fave has to be the first animated film because he's not talking about training, he's actually doing it. Generations was entertaining, but it was made for no reason. What was the point of this thing? At least he fought Akuma, but that fight was short and pointless too.
Well being that Ryu is 'THE MAN' they have to focus on him in the movies. The only movies that sucked were the Van-Damme Live Action and the SF-II american based anime focused on Guile. Street Fighter Alpha was an awesome movie. Few of them might be canon, but if you ever find a translation of the canon, its weird as crap.
And EVERYONE who is a Street Fighter Hardcore Gamer KNOWS that Akuma is Ryu's father. Kinda Obvious isnt it.
Left to study under Gouken as an orphan... But Gouken's other student was the son of a billionaire... heh heh
I saw Generations and i saw parts of this one but im confused on how they match up. I mean he first meets Sukura in this one but he allready knows the old guy who teaches him. But in Gererations he doesent know Sakura or the old guy and its suppose to be a sequal/prequal.
Generations is a "prequel" to Alpha. It establishes Gouki and Ryu's past, how they're connected, his becoming an apprentice to the old guy (which I actually liked a lot more in Generations than in Alpha), and his first fight with Akuma.
Of course... I don't know. There's a problem between the two movies, things that don't sync up. For one, Sakura meets him for the first time in the first movie and the second. The second problem is that in Alpha they state that Ryu's mother left him to his master, but in Generations, it states that his mother died and the father left him with the old guy then he was given to his master.
I saw Alpha several years back then bought a double-DVD package at WalMart with Alpha and Generations. I decided to watch Generations first despite its bad rap, then watch Alpha. The way I see Generations, it's a seemingly generic "back story" filler. It has a good Akuma fight, but the animation just turned me off (except for the old master). You also get to see Akuma/Gouki in his "normal" form, before the Dark Hadou took him over.
you should watch street fighter zero, nothing really wrong about it it could have been better, but its still ok
generation, is the one you should avoid, don't buy it even for 5 bucks and don't even download it, not worth your time, its about 30mins long and the drawing is terrible
the only pleasure in watchin this is the part where ryu punched sakura in the gut and it looked like cumm was drippin from her mouth thats about it, the rest is disapointin, fight between akuma and ryu was boring went on and on and theres no sound effects just stupid music playing in the backgroud the whole way through
Alpha generations was OKAY id say, nothing that special, barely anime (looked like non anime creator trying ot make anime, think teen titans), and finally it is only 45 minutes. The movie was good, but not great, street figter alpha blew it out of the water, generations had a cool fight scene near the end though.
All of you are getting it confused, Generations is the one with crap animation/drawing... I mean, did you even LOOK at the characters in Generations? I mean seriously... WTF.... this one has better action scenes too...and the plot is somewhat according to the games with the exception of the made up character of Dr. Sadler. Anyways, forget Generations, watch this one.
I would say forget this and generations, but if you have to pick watch this with better animation and a more worthwhile plot if you have the choice go with the movie.
