Cant stand this stuff

i like anime as much as the next guy, but I'd like to know what's with movies where a kid is tortured half the time(in this one, to death) when that happens thats all I become concerned about in the movie, and can't concentrate on the action. And it is so frustrating, having all that suspense built up. Will Ryu save his younger brother? Will he be Okay? Oh, nope, we see a little kid die a horrible death. Ryus such an awesome brother.
