That we would've gotten to know more about the house itself... You know what I mean? I swear, everything around the characters just brings too much curiosity to me. For instance, "What does this do?" "Where does this door go to?". I know it seems kinda lame, but that's just how I am.

Actually, I agree with you; that was also something that I felt even more strongly about concerning the film 'HOUSE OF WAX' (2005) In that movie I REALLY wanted to know a LOT more about not only the house but also the history of the family, etc., because it was so intriguing and was a much stronger basis for why the things were happening.
So, in this film too it would have indeed been interesting to be able to know more about the house, although they did a pretty good job at establishing what had been going on there...
