shareThat is not news... the town I grew up in (complete with literally both sides of the tracks) didn't have a police station either. We had the state troopers but that was it.
A hit and run is not an accident, really it is a punishable offense. If you hit something or someone and stay you have a good chance of it being a "no-fault" accident depending on the circumstances of what happened. A hit and run is automatically the person who *ran*'s fault, The running is the admission of guilt in a way. In any event, that is why the detectice was called, and not the state police. A hit and run is a crime.
