Detective Rico turned out to be a very nice person...

Wasn't previously familiar with the actress Lisa Vidal, who played Detective Rico, but immediately noticed she's a very attractive actress.

However, as the movie played on, and especially at the end, it shown through what a nice caring person (and dare I say friend) to Joanna Detective Rico became.

The husband Doug handled things with his wife horribly, IMO. When she attempted to communicate with him multiple times as to what she'd done, he never really encouraged true listening.

Granted she could've blurted it out, but he just assumed silly stuff (she was concerned about the party and other mundane <radio edit>).

I felt the decision for her (since she did NOT have a cell phone) to leave and immediately call for police and EMTs was the right one.

Her mistake was when she returned to the scene and the police were blasting out orders for her to move along, she should've blurted out what she'd done immediately.

Thought-provoking, IMO. I was glad to see Joanna's children didn't turn on her and still were very fond at the end.

And the nice person, Detective Rico? Good that she was able to get pregnant (I would've <radio edited> into a cup if she wanted me to - unlike her boyfriend, lol).

Nice post, jabberttp...I agree with absolutely everything you said. The husband was a creep...completely not understanding at all, and very obtuse NOT to see that something very deep was bothering her...not the stupid job interview or party, but something far more wrenching.

I thought Det. Rico was nice, too, but I think in the final scene it was kind of insensitive of her not to take one of Joanna's pastries, even if she wasn't hungry.

Regarding the husband - was it made clear what their marital status was at the end? Had he divorced her, or did he just need time to think things through?
