Similar to 'Reservation Road' **SPOILERS FOR BOTH MOVIES**

If you haven't seen "Reservation Road" and don't want it spoiled, read no further.

Dwight Arno, the main character in "Reservation Road," drives away after running over and killing a young boy. I found some eerie similarities between him and Joanna Kendall. Both were the parents of young children -- Dwight had a son -- and both lived in affluent communities. Dwight was a lawyer, divorced, and not on good terms with his ex-wife. The night of the accident, he was speeding in an effort to get his son home after the ex-wife kept calling every 10 minutes. Joanna wasn't speeding when she hit Kelly, but she had drunk some wine at lunch which could have impaired her driving.

Both Dwight and Joanna tried to confess afterward. Dwight called the police station but hung up. Joanna and her husband were interrupted so many times before she could tell him that she gave up.

Dwight and Joanna were each overwhelmed afterward by shame and guilt. They were edgy and jumpy, and their changed behavior was noticed by others. Joanna blew a job interview and Dwight began slacking off at work.

Both built a web of lies to cover up the accidents. Joanna hid the shoes she was wearing after a muddy footprint was discovered. Dwight hid his damaged car in the garage, claiming he had donated it to charity, and drove a rental. Joanna visited an unconscious Kelly in the hospital; Dwight was parked outside the church at the boy's funeral. Joanna couldn't get away from hearing "what kind of person would do this?" Dwight's new client turned out to be his victim's father, who had decided to retain a lawyer because he thought the police weren't doing their job.

Both eventually turned themselves in after what happened was figured out by others. The boy's father had a sudden flashback after seeing Dwight in the baseball cap he was wearing that night. Dwight's fate was not specified but as a lawyer he knew he would go to prison. Joanna fared only slightly better. Both lost their children, homes, and the affluent lifestyles they had known.
