I discovered WCW in June 2000 :O thats really pathetic, but what can you expect from a guy who couldnt get any channels that aired WCW :P
But from June 2000, right till the end I loved every moment of it.

WWE has ultimately killed its own show by buying out WCW

reply

brian, that's cool. you must have seen "The Franchise" Shane Douglas's awesome US TITLE run .. and Lance Storm . god Lance as awesome. the MVP of wCw towards the end if you ask me. they made him stupid though when he feuded with the Misfits in action

How do you learn to fall off a twenty-foot ladder?

reply

Yeah xD
I thought lance storm was one of the best WCW had to offer at that time, and I really think he should have became WCW Champion atleast once. But then again, to almost hold a grand slam was pretty good!
I used to love the Franchise aswell, loved his dirty tricks, like the chain around the fist lol.
I really was enjoying the Elite Magnificant Seven group at the end of WCW, and it really annoyed me that this was just stopped, and Vince Mcmahon took over as quickly as he did. They should have atleast finished that storyline.

i stopped watching wrestling in general in middle of 99,till late 2000.I do miss WCW though.

I'm like you I started watching both companies in 1998 and that's when both companies were at the height of their fame, I stopped watching WWE around 2004, by then I could tell it was starting to decline fast.

I think pro-wrestling reached its peak in 1998-99-'00 (seriously folks, these were days when the news media outlets, the entertainment outlets Access Hollywood, etc. would mention pro wrestling, they don't dare do that stuff today)

WCW biggest issue was their parent company, (Time Warner) they shouldn't had any control in it. They had something good all the way to 1999 when they stupidily took Bischoff out of command and tried to run it themselves then tried to bring him in '00 but it was too late, WCW was crumbling. You would think Time Warner would have captilized on the fact they had a show that targed the primary advertising target age 13-35 year olds and just give Bischoff full control of WCW. But what they do, they pull the plug on the company and take it off TNT and TBS and then it gets bought up by Vince who use it to promote his show. (I'll say this if Vince didn't buy WCW that year, Wrestlemania X-Seven and storylines that followed would have been boring) Time Warner's biggest mistake to date.

Late 1998 - around the time they had Nash/Hogan finger poke match. After that I don't think I ever watched it again (not a full episode anyways.)

No matter how worse WCW was getting by the day, I stuck by it till the end. I still remember the final Nitro.

"Jimmy Carter?! HE'S HISTORY'S GREATEST MONSTER!"

I started watching at the end of 99 watched it to the very last episode I watched some WWF but I didnt like the people much,The rock and triple h didnt do it for me,I thought what was going on in wcw at the time was much better with people coming in from ecw (mike awesome, lance storm) and booker T getting the belt.
WWE" really stinks now in my opinion I think it peaked between 99 and 03 maybe 02 but the new people are just dog sh it.

To answer your question:Curt Hennig/West Texas rednecks were fueding with the filthy animals/No limit soldiers in 1999. Around the middle of the year I think.

I watched the very 1st episode of nitro until the last episode. Nitro usually had encores so thats why I switched to WWE from time to time. I enjoyed Nitro way better. I'm not a fan of the attitude era because it was total ripoff of ECW.

I stopped watching Nitro on a weekly basis sometime in 1999. I stopped watching for good, sometime in 2000. I tuned back in for the final show, though.

I started watching WCW regularly, during March or April of 1996, so right before the start of the NWO. I stopped during sometime in 1999. For Some Reason when the NWO split into two factions NWO Hollywood/Wolfpac, it got old.

As far as Raw goes, I watched it from like mid 1993 to 1995, then again from 1995 or 1996 till 99 or 2000, In 2000 I stopped likeing wrestling altogether.

WCW and ECW being bought out by the WWE or WWF, killed all competition and pretty much ruined Wrestling.

As a kid I always favored the WWF over WCW, but now that I look back, WCW really had some good wrestlers. I almost wish I watched WCW more prior to Hogan going down there in 1994.

reply

I stopped watching it because

A. Goldbeg was hardly ever there

B. There was NEVER a fair fight. i mean it got ridiculous for 2 years. same damn thing happened

reply

When Tony and nash took over. Nash through fights by laying down. Tony treated the whole enterprise like a joke. The new wrestlers weren't interesting.

Goldberg was cheated twice.

reply

I stopped when WCW went out of business. I watched both shows.
