Don't understand how Esteban died if he was chasing the car?

It was another car.

He was hit by a car when he tried to chase the taxi (the taxi turned right, Esteban ran behind it and a car was coming down the road Esteban and the taxi turned to)

I was confused by this at first too, and I even wondered if he overtook the car and jumped in front of it for some odd reason, but then later I realised that it was another car that hit him.

How can people be so stupid to not see a car that came from his left run him over? That happens when you cross the street without looking first 
