Bleeped out a politically incorrect statement

A lady was on the $25,000 Pyramid on the old show that re-aired on 10/15/09 and, while they silenced most of the word except the end, you could tell she said, "The Mexicans always like to cross the ... (border)." And the audience was laughing. Dick Clark didn't mention anything about it though.

What is politically incorrect about that? I am not American. I don't understand this politically incorrect thing.

Honestly I don't either. I think it was not cool for her to say it the way she did saying, "always like to cross the .. (border)," because she's probably over-generalizing that said people always cross (illegally). I don't know. But I haven't been able to use the terms Native Americans or African-American; it is so weird. My daughter has even been irked be me saying someone was Oriental. What is wrong with that? She says I am supposed to say Asian.

hyphenating people is stupid

Wait, are you calling ME stupid, or that society made it "supposed to be that way"?

reply

are you the sole person to blame for starting the hyphenating of Americans?

Oriental applies to objects; Asian applies to American. By calling a person Oriental, you are treating them as if they were an object. If you wouldn't call someone or something an it, then it's not Oriental.

Me? I aim to misbehave.
