Favorite thing to do on a snow day?

I'm 34, and unfortunately adults don't get snow days. Even if the snow is up past the windows, your boss expects you to hitch up the dog sled and Iditarod your butt to work . And even if you do stay home, you still have to shovel the sidewalk and the driveway.

But when I was a kid, I loved snow days, especially when your school announced the evening before that it was closed so that you could stay up late and sleep in the next day.

So, what was [is] your favorite snow day activity as a kid? Sledding? Snowball fights? Just chillin' inside and watching TV or playing video games? For me it was always the big neighborhood wide snowball fight. It was like tag with consequences.

’Cause there’s thunder in your heart... Every move is like lightning!

Man, it's been years ...

In Minnesota, multiple plowings and snowblowings can leave mounds of snow up to 4-5 feet high on the lawns, so us kids would all wait for a few sunny days to pack the snow down nice and tight, then start digging in, hollowing the mountain ranges into a series of tunnels and chambers. Of course the moms of the neighborhood would inevitably find out and worry we'd all suffocate in a cave-in, but we'd have fun until then.

That's funny. I'm from NW WI and we'd do the same thing ala mid 1980's. We'd have caves, tunnels and such that I'm actually surprised nobody did get seriously injured. But nobody did! As far as the OP my favorite thing was wrestling in the snow. Like I said ala 80's lots of WWF on and what not and I can remember wrestling for hours and never getting hurt like when there was no snow to break the falls. And agreed on the finding out early. It was the best when they'd announce it at the end of the school day because they realized (I was in a smaller area) there was no way they would be able to get all the kids that live 20 miles out of town on farms to school by bus the next day.
