4.3/10? WTF?

I remember when this movie came out when I was 6 years old. I went to see it with my friend and my grandmother. At that time, my friends from school and I always talked about this film. Even now, at 14, we still talk about it. Can someone explain why this has such a low rating?

Now I shall reign in blood!

Lower budget movies usually get lower ratings. I know, it's silly, but that's the truth.

4.9 and love that movie!

Yeah, not a great film by any means but for a kids movie it's not bad I think the rating should be a little higher than a 4.9...

Ehhh, it's never really been one of my childhood favorites, though I just watched it again yesterday for mindless entertainment and it was still entertaining at parts. Critically speaking though, the movie is kind of a lukewarm assembly of kid comedy and teenage chick flick with some elements of the plot so bad and not in a "so bad it's good" sort of way. I think a rating of 5.0/10 is appropriate, though I would give it an extra point for the nostalgia factor.

Others from the time like "Good Burger" or "Harriet the Spy" still rank a bit higher than this, though. Maybe I was growing out of this sort of film when "Snow Day" rolled around?
