What are Sioux/Plains Indians doing in Nevada?

I know, I know, it's a nitpicky thing, but the Indians in this movie are obviously Plains tribes, who lived in teepees and rode horses and were warlike. The Indians in Nevada/California at the time were peaceful hunter-gatherer tribes and didn't have horses.

I was just coming here to post this. The Indians that attacked the kid at the river look like a mix of Pawnee and Blackfoot.
