Jackie Chan A-Sexual?

Ok setting aside the fact I really liked this movie and i'm a huuuuge Jackie Chan fan....why did this movie seem like the two "love" interests were more like brother and sister? I mean at the very end, after all the romantic gestures he does (bottles in water, says i love you, blah blah) plus the father telling him to kiss her (at least in the dubbed version, not sure what he says in subbed version) they never kiss! What is with that? Its not a big deal but sort of ruins the whole illusion of them being a couple at the end. I dunno why it bugged me just from a plot stand point felt it was missing.

Is it perhaps a cultural thing where Chinese women are more timid?

but fight scene at the end was awesome

It surely is a culture thing but not the way you think it is. It's not about timid women, it's just that sexuality is a taboo topic in general. This includes public kissing, you just don't do that. And if you do a movie like "Se, jie"/"Caution, Lust" you risk getting banned forever in mainland China.

BTW, I am married to an asian women and can assure you that they aren't prude in privacy. But it is still very important to "save face" in public.
