Why did benjemin lead everyone to the shop?

They didn't start the nosebleeds!!

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster - Henry Hill

reply

its been a while since ive seen it so i cant really remember, but i think either Ben thought that it was them, or he just took the mob there because Tubbs and Eddie hadd kidnapped him and held him there and the mob assumed it was them who started the nosebleeds...

actually, doesnt Ben shout "Barbera! dont touch his meat!"? if he did its probably the first one.

"You tell him, Steve-Dave!"
"I'll snap off your nose and toss it at a vicar"

reply

Yeah the LOG explain it on the commentary i think. Benjamin suddenly remembers what happened to him in the shop, and shouts and points to the shop, and the mob assume he's talking about the nose bleeds.

reply

^^^ That's exactly what happened. The mob was out of control and Benjamin's memory came back, he looked at the snowglobe than up at the shop and points at it, and shouts something like "up there" and everyone looks up and goes up there. What I find weird is that when they're in Royston Vasey it's daytime but by the time they get to the shop it's pretty dark. I mean I know it's up in the hills but it wouldn't take them that long to get there.

reply

Yeah but at the end doesnt he try and stop the mob when they get there, realising it wasnt them who started the nosebleeds?

reply

He didnt know what was happening, he had been recovering the whole series, he must have losthis memory or something and when he was walking along the street he saw the local shop and went "there" as if thats where i was kept.. and he thinks the people are rioting about that..

reply

Did anyone else find Tubbs and Edward burning in the shop saying "We velong local" moving?
I know it's Bride Of Frankenstein, just I did.

reply

The end of the second series is very moving and dramatic.

"It is time to keep your appointment with the Wicker Man"

reply

Yeah the mob misunderstood him or he misunderstood them or both. He didn't indicate that the Local Shop was the cause of the nosebleeds, he just pointed and shouted "up there" while the mob who were trying to find a scapegoat for the nosebleeds took that to mean the shop was the cause.

reply

Right, this is what happens:

Benjamin, having escaped from the Dentons' house (Chloe and Radcliffe lock their parents in the amphibarium), he encounters the mob who have just witnessed Mayor Vaughn drop dead from a massive nosebleed. Benjamin asks "What's going on?", and someone says "The mayor is dead!". Benjamin is shocked - "You can't die of a nosebleed!" - and another member of the crowd says "The epidemic! Where've you been?".

Hearing this, he wonders where exactly he has been, pulls out the snowstorm globe from the Local Shop and has flashbacks to his experiences there and his escape. His memory comes back to him, and he shouts "Oh my God! There it is!". He points at the Local Shop that he recognises, and the mob therefore think that it's Tubbs and Edward who caused the nosebleeds.

Later, he realises the misunderstanding too late, and the shop burns to the ground, while Barbara calls out "Darling!", because David (her husband and Tubbs and Edward's son) cannot escape, and nor can Tubbs and Edward.

Phew! Any more explanations you want?

I'll have to watch it again, but I thought it was the guy next to Benjamin who shouted "Don't touch his meat!"
