Edd/Kevin?

I heard that many fangirls are pairing Double D with Kevin and actually ship them as a couple.
But why? I just don't understand why there are so many supporters of this "couple" (?)...Maybe it's just me, I don't like yaoi pairings and I don't really ship anyone from this show

reply

Fangirls are desperate to ship ANY characters, it doesn't matter how sane or insane they sound they do it anyway.

Spider-Man 3. The Dark Knight Rises. Really, what's the difference?

I was happy to see Edd and Naz dance in one episode. Maybe they ended up together

Edd is the most socially accepted of the group and Kevin is actually shown to get along quite well with him (when he's away from Eddy) in some episodes.

Still weird considering they're both really into Nazz.

reply

Well yah, makes sense I guess since Kevin didn't seem to mind him the most out of the Ed's and would some times help each other when needed. Though, doesn't seem as popular as Eddy x Edd one from all the videos that come up on YouTube :/

2012, bring it on!

It stems from a series of fancomics drawn by c2ndy2c1d on tumblr. She somehow actually made the pairing extremely cute. Before seeing her take on them, I thought the pairing made absolutely no sense. It still doesn't, but she actually made it pretty cute.

Generally speaking, people in fanfiction like 'odd couples', i.e:

Les Miserables: Grantaire (miserable unattractive drunk cynic) x Enjolras (beautiful idealistic teetotaller.)

Harry Potter: Almost any Gryffindor (Hermione/ Harry/ Ginny) x Slytherin (Snape/ Draco/ Voldemort.)

Most slash pairings are either bromance odd couples (Sherlock and John Watson) or evilxgood odd couples (Batman and Joker).

The main version of this is jockxnerd or PrepxAlternative. A lot of fanfics are based in schools or colleges because it fits this stereotype. I think this is because most people who write fanfics tend to be kids, so it's like a fantasy trope I guess?

Anyway, I think that's where Edd x Kevin comes from. They interact in the show pretty positively (in season 5 Eddy plays a mean trick on Kevin and so Double D helps Kevin get revenge on Eddy) which can fire up the imaginations of people who like that type of pairing.

That was a detailed response!

These people need help. Seriously, they need therapeutic psychiatric help.

I'm somewhat of a fangirl and I hate yaoi and slash. I've always personally shipped Edd with Sarah. I just think they fit. There's enough evidence that they like each other. First episode, he liked her (which was dropped), several episodes later, she likes him, which persists throughout the rest of the show. In "High Heeled Ed" and "Tight End Ed", it's hinted that he has subconscious feelings for her.

As for Kevin, he's practically already in a relationship... with his bike. 

Don't steal; the government hates competition.
