Keeping America stupid...

Why do they even bother calling this a news program? I swear, they devote maybe 5 minutes to actual news and the rest of the time it's about pharmaceutical companies. Then it ends with some terrible fluff story, usually one of those "gimp overcoming the odds" or "white woman to the rescue" stories. Ooooo...inspiring. Puke!
The only reason I watch this is it passes the time until BBC America news comes on at 7:00 (or the Red Sox if they're on). At least then you get to see the news stories ABC, NBC, & CBS won't talk about.

Those gimp stories are cool.

I've found it funny how obsessed with social media they are. Any story, no matter how mundane, they'll report if it has a Facebook angle to it. Or they'll spin a Facebook angle on it. And I think they would probably interview somebody on Skype if they were in the next room.

And yes, it's mostly fluff pieces, or any story they can tie to a TV show or movie.

It is the dumbest news program, aside from most everything on FOX News.

Keeping the citizens uninformed.

Not just ABC, but all of the network "news."

It's 2014, and it's only gotten worse. Tonight, stories about Taylor Swift and Brad Pitt, and other entertainers.

What concerns Americans? Jobs. Security.

Their news is about nothing but....info-tainment.

And there's always a few stories to scare everyone.

Meanwhile, there's important information that people need to know, to make good decisions in this very tenuous world we live in, to be active citizens.

The other thing is the FCC (laws) that regulated how much commercial time was allowed per hour has been increasing commercial air time. On average, it's 20+ minutes per hour of commercials. (Lots more pharmaceutical commercials to watch, oh goody.) So we're down to an average of 40 or so minutes per hour of show content. On most cable channels, you can't even fast forward through commercials anymore. You have to triple pay...your monthly fee, plus pay to watch last season's shows, plus watch the commercials which the cable company gets paid again for.

We're just chumps. Taking it.

I see what you are getting at. It's certainly a concerted effort to: Keeping America stupid. It's obvious.

And it seems....outrageously intentional.

Follow the money.

Whose interest does it serve perpetuating the stupi-fication of Americans? And who profits?

The oligarchy. Wall street and the global corporations, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas companies, insurance monopolies, those who wish to remain in control of our governement...

It's pretty bad.
