Is this the World News Tonight or Entertainment Tonight?

As long as I've watched the news (since '98 when I was 18 or so) I have always watched World News Tonight for my nightly news. But I'm seriously thinking of going somewhere else, because this newscast is getting dumbed WAAAYYY down. It's almost like they don't do a news story unless they can tie it to similarities in a movie or TV show, and then show clips of that movie. A story about Iraq, they're showing parts of "The Hurt Locker", a story about sleep research they show clips of "Inception". The first time I noticed this was a while back when they said they were going to have a story about a "real life Lost". I knew that surely nobody had crashed on an island with supernatural powers and were being chased around by a smoke monster, so I figured it was just more WNT stupidity, and it was. Basically the story was a small private plane with just the pilot and two passengers made a soft water landing after some engine problems, and swam to shore. They didn't know where they were, but were found within 12 hours, and it turned out were on an occupied island less than 10 miles from a tourist resort. But of course they had to say it was like "Lost" and show lots of clips of Jack, Kate and Sawyer to dumb down the story.

That's not the only thing that has become dumber since Mrs. Sawyer has come along, but it's the main thing. This feels more like Good Morning America than an actual news broadcast. I think I might switch over and see what Katie Couric or Brian Williams are up to, it certainly can't be any worse than this. If I hear that the Jonas Brothers are breaking up or a couple of guys found their boss dead but paraded his corpse around on an island while throwing killer parties then I will switch over to World News Tonight to get the whole scoop, because I'm sure they'll be on top of those stories.

Edit: The first night I go back to watching after taking time off and they are showing clips of "Law & Order" and "Grey's Anatomy" for a story about a rapist and another about a man having a heart attack. Do they just think their viewers are dumb and have to be shown clips of TV shows and movies in order to understand the story?

Tonight a story about interracial marriage, but instead of just doing a story, they promote their networks show "Modern Family" and put lots of pointless clips of it in since the character of Gloria is Columbian and married to a white man. This is by far the dumbest newscast on TV. Except for FOX NEWS that is. But these are dumb for different reasons.
