Gabriel: Angel or Monkey? [SPOILERS]

I've just finished watching this movie and I'm confused about something.

In "The Prophecy 2", Michael stripped Gabriel's powers away and made him human. How come Gabriel had the power to bring Danyael's girlfriend back to life at the end of "The Prophecy 3"?

Was it because he tried to help Danyael? Was he forgiven?

He did become an Angel again. I can't say 100% that it was any particular thing, but as a whole.

If you think about the name of the movie... "Prophecy" and the underlying them behind it, about the Nephilim and God's will, and Gabriel, it makes sense, that everything that happened was meant to happen. IE in movie two, when Danyael's mom tells Gabriel, that God hasn't stopped talking, he just stopped listening, which lead to her living, her son being born, and subsequently, her murder, the son rebelling against God, his being shot, reawakening, and coming into power, to fighting Pyriel. And Gabriel finally seeing that it wasn't all happening without purpose.

That was an excellent response. Very clear and easy-to-understand. Thanks!

Gabriel was given his power back, because he finally saw the light, and he was Danyel's guardian Angel. When the girl was first dying he didn't have the power to save her but after Danyel won the fight,he became an angel again.

It was actually nice to see Gabriel learn his lesson and become a good guy again. This is Archangel Gabriel we're talking about. The one who told the virgin Mary she was pregnant. The first two movies are the best of the series, but you wouldn't want that angel to go evil.

I loved how he becomes a 'monkey' made him ascend again back to the big G graces. Especialy the bits in the Diner when he meets again the waitress from part one, him enjoying some good music and the last beautiful montage about the light blinding him ( in a good way )

Infact a few years back when I saw the first Prophecy I didn't like it much cause Gabriel was a bad guy, but I found out that his character turns good in the end, so I watched 2, 3 =)

But what abt all the angels he had killed in the process? And the humans too? God let them die just so Gabriel can learn his lesson?

No, Gabriel's descent and redemption was all collateral damage. It wasn't all about him. He had to accept that there was a plan and a way that things were supposed to work out and he was supposed to play a role in that, as jealous as he was of mankind.

And what was the reason for the deaths of all the angels Gabriel killed? Killing many angels who did nothing but follow god's will and protect the innocent who fulfils the prophecy seems sadistic doesn't it? What about the humans? If everyone is expendable, why wasn't Gabriel expendable too? Why teach him a lesson at the cost of all the other lives? If it's part of a plan, then the whole plan was for his descent and redemption. If he didn't descent or if he was killed off at the beginning when he turned, all the collateral would have been avoided.

It was a weak point in the movies that it is never clearly explained that ripping out the hearts of angels didn't kill them dead-dean but only on earth (their souls go back to heaven). Gabriel has his heart ripped out in movie 2 but then goes to Hell to later be released (in the lamest way).

So Zophael, the new bad angel, is 'killed' but must go back to Heaven to the rebel angel camp I suppose. So his 'spying for God' days are over I take it.

As for the humans, and especially Victoria Rosales and the main guy character in Movie 1 and 2 (who gets burned up by Gabriel) - they die and go off to Heaven so everything is ok. Thanks God for burning me up, but I'm alright now with that now I'm in Heaven with you. LOL!

(has to chuckle over brownsugar's usage of the words "Guardian Angel" in re: to the character of Gabriel as he has been presented in these movies... heh...

But it's true...

It's not so much that he "saw the light", to coin a phrase... It's more that he REALIZED that what Valerie had said in the 2nd installment of the series was true: He HAD NOT been LISTENING for the WORD! ... AND DANYAEL ROSALES -WAS- THE WORD!

There is a close-up of Walken's neck, with the Gabriel mark, clearly showing that he got back his powers =)
