This is just one of those coincidences in film or it's like it was fated. Ed Harris plays a neurotic yet gifted real-life person, for which he loses the Oscar to Russell Crowe, then the two of them work together the next year in A Beautiful Mind where Crowe also plays a neurotic yet gifted real-life person and they both starred with Jennifer Connelly, who won Best Supporting Actress after Marcia Gay Harden won in the same category the previous year for the film they both appeared in.

P.S. I think you should add your comment to the trivia section now that IMDB has made the unbelievable wrong-headed decision to take down these message boards, which are so full of valuable info and insights unavailable anywhere else.
