I like Colin Farrell as an actor but this is his worst role

reply

It was a pretty good movie

I have to disagree. IMO its a great movie. I don't know how many times I've seen it (it was a favorite on the movie channels playing every few hours when it was first released to the movie channels).

I think its a great movie. That's my opinion though.

all i can say is, if you don't like this film, then i hate you, i can't respect the limited amount of reasons you gave to dislike this film - and collin farrell's worst role? What about when the killer forces him to tell Kelly about Pam and their mischiefs together...he breaks down....brilliant - got nothing on dark knight though.

reply

Okay, I really like this movie as well, but you're seriously gonna hate an anonymous username you don't even know cause he doesn't like the film and expressed his opinion? And he probably doesn't give to shytes whether or not you respect him. LOL!

I believe in Steve Austin and his plan to put a casino on the moon

I hate this film and I hate you for liking it.

reply

I think this is a good movie, but the main point is did you SEE 'Alexander'!?!?!

reply

I personally can't see why you think this movie is bad! Farell does a great job, especially when as someone commented eariler, he goes from being this uptight, snobby guy to completely breaking down and being humble. Great acting. Suspense was pretty good, and the storyline, while you're watching the movie is good. I admit that when you look at the synopsis on paper the storyline maybe is a bit lame, but that doesn't matter when you're watching the film. Too short - i agree with. I thought they could have made it longer, but I don't know what they could have put in it - how long can you make a film about some guy in a phonebooth? I think it was very underated and a great film.

Colin Farrell's worst role? Have you ever even seen daredevil? compare that over-the-top sinister "acting" to the caliber of his phone booth performance and then get back to me.

1. It was played in realtime. (similar to 24)
If the event was meant to as long as 1 hour and 30 mins then that's how long it will be.

2. I assume *beep* means shît... and IMO I disagree... Its quite amazing that one setting throughout the whole film and a simple storyline of a man continuing a call under duress can keep you on the edge of your seat. You have to wonder how difficult it is to keep this from becoming boring but I hung on to every word said from the caller and the writers made a real good effort to slowly reveal the conversation not giving too much away and build the tension throughout the whole film...

For a film with limited characters and one setting it was done really well..

You are an idiot, what are you 12?

Considering the premise of the film is a guy stuck in a phone booth, I wouldn't want the film to be stretched out much longer.

colin farrel's worst role?

forget daredevil and alexander, have you seen "ask the dust"? (no, i thought not!)

reply

The first thing they taught us in film school is length doesn't matter. So you're first point is moot.

And I don't care for Colin Farrell, but I enjoyed this film. It may be his BEST role.

reply

Other than Gone With The Wind, no movie should be over 90 minutes.

reply

I think it's hilarious that you think "won" is spelled "one!!!" LOL

reply

Hey, normally I am the one to say that a movie can only be too short but never too long if it has a good story to tell. But this one is an exception. Why?
Well, there is no way one could make this movie longer because it'll mean one or more of the following:

* adding boring stuff
* adding interesting stuff - but since we need rising tension, it would just get ridiculous
* one can't watch a guy being trapped in a phone booth forever but if you add scenes before he enters or after he leaves the booth, it would just water down the movie and keep away from what it makes it so special

the movie was pretty good if you ask me... nice idea and Colin Farrell acted quite well in it.

in fact, it's the best Colin Farrell film i had seen with him as the lead.

i give it a 8/10.

I love this movie! I'm even more impressed now that I read they made it in only 10 days. Great suspense. Colin is hot! He starts out an arrogant ass who is very unlikeable and ends up a person we can sympathize with due to the delightful insanity of Kiefer Sutherland's character. Kiefer does crazy so well.

I've already seen the worst movie ever made, so it can only be uphill from there.

He did a fine job here and I'm not a big Colin fan

IT got a 7.2 because people like it, don't ask obvious questions. I gave it an 8/10, The Caller will remain as one of my all time fav bad guys. I also don't like when people make a thread and just write "the movie sucked" without sayong why they think so.

I agree. It was better than I though it would be and that twist at the end gets it a steady 5/10 but it was a bad idea for a plot. I could not keep being interested in a film that spends all its time in a phone booth. I think if it had been any longer I would have switched it off! I think it is a MASSIVE INSULT to even try to compare it to Hitchcock. How dare he? Hitchcock is a master of film, something that the director of this film cannot even begin to comprehend.

T: Why do I bother??!!

reply

I loved this film. I rated it an 8/10 so I could definitely see how it got 7.2.

To the poster above me, you do realize that the basic idea for this film was originally pitched to Hitchcock? And he liked the idea. They just didn't have a way to do the film in the 60's.
