One of the Funniest games EVER

I would have to say that this is one of the funniest games I have ever played. The dark humor ladent throughout the whole game, and the many, many pop culture references have me laughing 8 years after the game was made, and after 100+ hours of playing the game.

Some of the quotes I liked were:

"God I wish I had a limit break..." -Cassidy

"Danger Will Robinson!!!" -Robot

And who could forget the monty python bridge crossing scene...

"If there were no God, it would be neccessary to invent Him."

-Voltaire

but my favorite fallout qoutes a 2 from harold the talking ghoul in gecko.

"Is that a tree growing out of your head?"

"His names herbert, I talk to him sometimes....heh heh just kiddin', HIS NAME'S BOB!"

and

"Whats a Hydroelectric magnetosphere?"

"Well technicly...its a thingie"

reply

I didn't think it could get better than Fallout, the sequel is one of the best games I've ever played. I must've gone through this more than any game ever.

There are too many to name when it comes to great quotes.

You- "Stay close to me"
Sulik- "...just promise to buy soap in the next town"

----------------------------------
Shouldn't you be teaching the girls about their monthly?

reply

Anyone here play the original (Wasteland) that inspired Fallout? Awesome game for its time!

reply

Random junkies will sometimes say something like:

"Wait, wait, stop. Ok, go ahead."

I just thought that was hilarious.

Quadrants - Quadrants - Extrapolate

reply

Well how did you survive?

"Didn't, got killed! (wheezy laugh) God I love that one!"

reply

This Cassidy's taunt made me LOL (he said it when enemy critically missed him):

"Too bad YOU can't reload the game and try again"

reply

I forgot about that one!

Classic!

It's just like in Baldur's Gate when you meet Marl in Beregost. You deal with him and then you click on his buddy and he says "Hey! Don't click me! I don't want any trouble!"

reply

Isnt it a special encounter in Fallout 2 where you go through the portal, end up in Vault 13 and break the water chip?

Or was that from the first also?

Anyway, hilarious...

reply

This is my favorite PC game, hilarious!

"Positive Livin' Through A Negative Lifestyle"

reply

The easter eggs in this game are among the best I have ever seen. There are so damn many of them that Fallout 2 no longer seems like a Fallout game, sadly.

"I won! *beep* you! You are weak... I have Crushed you."
Wooz

"You won? *beep* you! I can't believe it. I will have revenge!"
Wooz

reply

Olaf, that is funny. I don't rememebr that.

And X, your right, the timetravel/break the water chip part is in 2.

Many they need to give the infinity engine another chance. People interested in story and real RPG elements don't put much stock in graphics.

reply

"you f... up my pretty face"

there were lot of cool lines

"can you repeat that i need to record that on tape?
-you must be reeeeal stupid , or you are real stupid spy!"

"hey .... catch ! (drop landmine to the hole)"

The random encounters contain my favorite quotes:

"Find your own claim to jump"
-Claim jumpers

"Take my wife instead!"
-Farmer

"Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka!"
-Bootleggers

"Wow, I sure do have a lot of blood in me. Well, I used to, anyway."
-Bandit after being shot

What ever you do, don't take the Arm wrestle the Mutant bet without alot of Buffout.

*Spoiler*
You wake up with a Gag Ball(think pulp fiction) In your inventory. People around town make comments about you walking funny!

Wow I'm gona have to fire it up and play again this weekend!

reply

The only bad thing about this game is that once you start playing you can't stop so yeah I kinda failed a few exams because of this game... I don't regret it though since the game is awesome.

Lmao, thats exactly how I felt in both ways. I wasted time, but the game was so great, I felt like I hadn't wasted a second.

reply

Can't say I didn't wasted less time playing than you, guys :)

Some other quotations that are worth mentioning:

Drill Sgt
Welcome to the camp Navarro, so you are the new replacement. <very loudly> You are out of uniform soldier, where is your power armor?!

Sulik
Grampy-bone be doing da killin' right now.

Marcus
<while shooting> Chris Avellone loves you!

This game had self-referential humor in spades. Your NPCs could gain several levels (up to 5) over the course of your travels. When they gained a level they'd comment. Myron's were the best - one was something like: "I feel like I've passed an arbitrary experience point limit and gained more power."

Frankly, Myron is a good example of how funny and fun this game could be - as an NPC he was far from the best, but his taunts and level-up comments and general floating-text observations were hilarious. I spent a game trying hard to keep him from getting killed.

I think everyone who played the game remember the taunts best, though. I've never seen another game implement them quite as well:

"I'm gonna replace those organs you just holed with some of yours."

"Take it, take it hard!"

"Loser." [on bad misses]

"How dare you?"

And wholesale dropping of the f-bomb. Good stuff.

I really hope you guys have tried playing a really STUPID character. If you haven't- go and do it! Totally freakin hilarious!

reply

Talking to a ghoul-bartender: "That's it you *beep* leper, you'll receive a lead inoculation for that!". It wasn't exactly like that, but almost :D

Rudeness is an epidemic

reply

Don't push again or I'll... well jsut don't push me.

Agree on that, anyone who haven't tried creating a character with IN<4, should do that right away, it's a one long laugh fest. Your dialogue choices, as well as NPC reactions towards you, are priceless. Even Arroyo villagers are amused at you being the "Chosen One".
